A packaging qualification exercise is designed to expose a determined packaging configuration to expected worst case temperatures for its proposed usage and geographical reach. Each profile is designed to create an environment that simulates these worst case temperatures.
A full report is produced that illustrates and documents the performance of each packaging type and configuration when exposed to the selected temperature profile/s. The report considers the comparison of the internal packaging temperatures to the external temperatures (via pre agreed temperature profile/s) created and controlled by the climatic chamber. Full photographic evidence is gathered throughout each stage of each trial providing a full audit trail of each project.
Studies typically simulate a ‘worst case approach’ over a pre determined time period with a seasonal temperature profile as well as a Maximum and Minimum load configuration (loads are usually simulated by replicating load configurations with dummy product).
Study results are presented as an independent document, designed to support your internal Standard Operating procedures (SOP’s) and overall regulatory requirements.
Project scopes are tailored to meet the specific demands of each client and each packaging configuration.

Projects can include:
• Any packaging type or size
o Passive or Active systems
o Cold Chain, Frozen, Dry Ice, Temperate solutions
• Impacts such as:
o Temperature
o Humidity
o Shock/Drop testing
o Vibration testing
Regulation: Biomap has developed its Packaging Qualification solution in consideration of regulatory guidelines from the IMB, MHRA, FDA and USP. Thermal profiles are based on ISTA procedure 7D (2007) ‘Thermal controlled transport packaging for parcel delivery system shipment’
Reports: Our reports include a detailed overview of the project results. Reports are provided in hard copy or electronic format.
Data Acquisition tools: Biomap utilises the Escort iMiniPlus data loggers (see data loggers)
Benefits:
• Project qualification in advance of proposal
• Full report (Min, Max & Ave temperatures, Recorded Range, Trend analysis, Schematics, Certification, Excursion analysis, Summary and Events, Tabular data)
• Cost effective, price incentives available for multiple packaging formats/projects or estimated forecast of requirements.
